While Matt was cutting the slopes or whatever people do on snowboards, KatherineJ, Lindsey and I popped over to Cafe Lurcat to document this surprise party.

When the server peeked her head in to tell us that Michelle was coming through a different door, we all yelled SURPRISE! at the server and the birthday girl snuck in the back.

Moral of the story: when you turn 40, you learn how to outsmart a crowd.  And if you’re Michelle, you’re also super hot.  Right?  Rwar.

We’ve got major love for the folks at HUGE Theater.  Their fundraiser last week boasted a couple of our favorite celebrities and some of our cherished local improvisors.

Of course, we didn’t actually talk to any of the famous people.  Matt has no excuse.  I’m an introvert.  Also, what do I say?  WHAT’S MY OPENER?!

“HEY I LIKE MADMEN SOMETIMES I WATCH IT AND PRETEND I LOOK LIKE JOAN HOLLOWAY OH THAT WAS STUPID I KNOW SHE’S NOT REAL!  WHY AM I YELLING? CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH? OR SEE YOUR UNO CARD COLLECTION?  I…HATE MYSELF.”

Tara, one of the Gustilos, was nice enough to ask me to tag along on her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary party. The one thing about this family is it was clear from the beginning that there are a lot of them. And also they truly enjoyed each other like a family should. They had slideshows in which everyone was portrayed as their 80s selves (no one escaped this one), played Charades, and even had a dance party. Here are a few of my favorite frames.

Also, Kess is off today so I can’t be held responsible for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. I’m flying solo here and it’s frightening.

Max and Leah’s B’nai Mitzvot (Thank you to Louisa for the correction! (Mitzvah -> Mitzvot)) brought the house down at Seven Sushi in Downtown Minneapolis. More images coming soon from their crazy awesome party. In the meantime, I did love this frame from the service the afternoon before. [Not pictured: Max, Leah.]

You know it’s official when you change your Facebook status.  Kess and I got engaged today.  This is exciting.
