We flew down to Brazil (a few weeks ago?  Last week?  I’m still taking melatonin at night and lacing my days with black tea.  Totally doctor-recommended.) to photograph Jay and Pri’s wedding festivities, and this duo welcomed us into every part of their weekend.

To wit:

  • We were half of the Bachelor Fest attendees.  (I didn’t have much success with the language, but I think I picked up that Caipirinha is Portuguese for “Hangover.”)
  • Jay’s buddy Tiago shared his story of a very “horny” driver: “and he is honk, honk, honk, honk on his horn.”
  • Matt taught the kids how to play “HORSE” on the basketball court, and they let him win.  Then Best Man/Rickyboy/He-chie/Rich let Matt borrow some shorts to wear in the pool.
  • Pri’s dad filled our bellies with popsicles in every flavor from goiaba to cheese.  Goiaba obviously being “sugar fruit.”

I might be better at Portuguese than we originally thought.

Getting away from the cold in Minneapolis into a place where it is summer was such a treat.  You may recognize that positively edible southern hemisphere glow.  Speaking of which, let’s get started:

We wish you such happiness in your life together, you two.

Ricardo for letting us be there at the beginning.

Awesome.

I realize coals are supposed to be hot — but you made them look just molten! I also just really dig on the overally feel of the right shot in JayPriWeb037.JPG …

We’re off to Sao Paulo tomorrow to start shooting for The Nu Project, Sao Paulo.  Creative name, I know; I named it myself.

Here’s a little teaser from Jay + Pri’s amazing wedding in a little terreno outside of Campinas, Brazil.  We had an amazing time at the pre-party, the wedding lunch, the wedding-night party, and the day-after-wedding party.  Thanks guys!

We depart tomorrow for Sao Paulo, Brazil. We’ve got a week and a half of shooting ahead of us – a weekend of Jay + Pri’s wedding and 5 days of shoot for The Nu Project. I’m so excited, I’m probably not going to be able to sleep tonight. I leave you all with this, an image from our last trip. I met this guy in a pub in An Spiddal, a little Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) outside of Galway, Ireland. He was deee-runk and I didn’t understand a word he said. I imagine if he were sober I still wouldn’t have understood a word he said. He seemed like a good man.

Absolutely love this, it’s like I’m sat right there in the room picturing this through my viewfinder. Fantastic B&W tones too!

Matt’s in Colorado until Saturday, so I have temporarily deemed the dog Head of Operations.  She’s wearing a crown, but she won’t hold on to her scepter.  (No opposable thumbs, you know.  She uses that excuse to get out of everything.  She’s also refused to blog.)

Below is an image of the cottages at the Park Lodge Hotel outside of Spiddal Village, County Galway, Ireland.  We stayed here while we visited our wonderful friends and helped set up the Park Lodge for the big wedding last week, tying bows and whathaveyou.  But the star of this image is really the Red Rocket (reading Julia Child’s book.  Suddenly very interested in naming my vehicles, though not as much in cooking), a 9 passenger Mercedes van with the right side steering wheel and manual shifter in the middle.  Matt and I were pilot and co-pilot.  Everybody else mostly slept.  We returned it to the kind man at Avis in perfectly fine condition at the Dublin airport.

So we did, so.

More images on their way once the master photoshopper returns to the studio.

Pow! Kick! Zowie!

Red Rocket or, The Irish Rover
